This Privacy Policy explains what information The Soundtrack Game ("the app") collects and how it is used. The app is a player companion for The Soundtrack Game party game, used together with a host screen and other players.
The app is designed to collect as little as possible. We do not ask for your real name, email address, or phone number.
To make rejoining easier, the app saves a small amount of data locally on your device using standard app storage: the last game code you used, your player code, and your chosen name. This stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app.
We use this information only to operate the game — to connect you to a session, display your name to other players, keep the game state in sync, and let you rejoin. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or marketing.
Your display name and in-game actions are visible to the host and the other players in the same game. Game data is stored using our backend provider, Convex, solely to run the service. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Game data is kept only as long as needed to run the service. Games are automatically deactivated after they end or become inactive, and your push token is deleted at that time. Other game data, such as a display name recorded in a past game, may be retained on our backend to operate the service and is removed on request (see Data deletion below). Data saved locally on your device remains until you remove it or delete the app.
The app does not require an account. You can remove the data stored locally on your device at any time by deleting the app. Your push token is deleted automatically once your game becomes inactive. To request deletion of any other data associated with you (for example, a display name recorded in a past game), email thesoundtrackgame@gmail.com and we will remove it.
The app does not access or collect your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photos. It contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking, and does not use advertising identifiers.
If you allow notifications, the app registers a push token for your device and uses a remote push service (Expo) to send you reminders when it is your turn while the app is in the background. The token is used only to deliver these game notifications and is deleted automatically when your game becomes inactive. If you do not grant notification permission, no push token is collected.
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will remove it.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date above.
